Apple renamed Twitter to X in defiance of its own App Store app shop rules

Late last week, media outlets reported that the social networking app X would continue to be called Twitter in the App Store. However, Apple changed its mind a couple of days later.

Until recently, anyone wishing to install the X app in the App Store was forced to install Twitter. The reason was in the rules of the shop. According to them, the name of a product in the App Store must consist of at least two characters.

It seems that Elon Musk found arguments that forced Apple to change its decision. As you can see in the screenshot above, the app is now called X instead of Twitter in the App Store.
