Norway buys Black Hornet miniature unmanned helicopters worth of $48,000,000 - this is the world's smallest military drone
The Norwegian Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with the Californian company Teledyne Flir to supply unmanned helicopters Black Hornet .
What we know
The American manufacturer has already delivered more than 12,000 miniature drones to various countries around the world. The deal with Norway was the biggest for the Teledyne Flir company. The contract amounted to $48,000,000.
Black Hornet is the world's most compact military drone. The helicopter-type drone weighs 33 g and is about 17 cm long. The operator needs only 20 minutes of training to operate the drone.
Black Hornet can reach speeds of up to 21 km/h and is charged from zero to 90% in 20-25 minutes. The radius of action of the drone is 2 km. The UAV can stay in the air for up to 25 minutes and can operate in areas where there is no GPS-signal, including indoors.
The cost of one drone is almost $200,000. The aircraft complex includes two Black Hornet units.
