The authorities of the United Kingdom intend to allocate £12,000,000 for the creation of an air highway for unmanned aerial vehicles.
What we know
The project is called Skynet. It will take two years to implement. The 264 km long airway will connect several cities in England: Rugby, Coventry, Cambridge, Oxford, Reading and Milton Keynes.
The project involves the installation of ground sensors along the highway. Sensors in real time will make it possible to determine the location of the drone in the airspace of England. These data will be analyzed by the traffic control system to rule out drone collisions.
Skynet is a part of an overall aerospace funding package. In total, the UK government is investing £273,000,000.
