Archytas VTOL drone with a top speed of 158 km/h is unveiled for reconnaissance and surveillance

Hellenic Aerospace Industries has announced a new unmanned aerial vehicle. The model is called Archytas.

Here's What We Know

The novelty is a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drone. It features high sweep wings and propellers that hide in the hull during flight, reducing drag. In this case we are talking about take-off and landing propellers. During flight, a rear-mounted pusher propeller is used.

The Archytas is designed for surveillance and reconnaissance. The drone will be able to carry up to 14kg of payload, but the maximum take-off weight of the entire system is not specified at this time.

The drone has a 6.4km wingspan and can climb to an altitude of up to 8,000 metres. The drone has a top speed of 158km/h and reaches a cruising speed of 120km/h.

Hellenic Aerospace Industries has unveiled a prototype drone. The company continues to improve the design of the platform and will showcase the results of its work on Archytas next year.
