BlueBird Aero Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries Group, unveiled a new bomber munition at the Paris Air Show. The kamikaze drone is called SpyX.
Here's What We Know
SpyX is a striking, disposable drone that will allow the military to destroy enemy targets up to 50km away. According to the manufacturer, it strikes objects with a deflection of less than 1 metre.
One of the drone's features is open architecture, which allows it to be used together with other BlueBird drones. In particular, the WanderB-VTOL and ThunderB-VTOL.
The SpyX is equipped with an electro-optical camera and is controlled from a ground station which includes a laptop. The kamikaze drone carries a warhead weighing approximately 2.5 kg and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 150 km/h in flight.
The hovering munition itself weighs approximately 10 kg. Flight time is 90 minutes. The launcher uses a typical launcher that can be mounted on a pickup truck, as shown in the main image.
