India has banned the use of Chinese-made components in military drones due to the risk of espionage

The Indian government has banned the use of Chinese components in military drones. The reason was concerns about possible espionage.

Here's What We Know

India can completely ban the use of Chinese-made components in military products. However, for now, the country's government has decided to limit itself to drones.

The fear is that Chinese components could be used for espionage in favour of the Chinese Communist Party. If Chinese intelligence agencies start collecting intelligence information, it will undermine India's national security.

The ban was reported by Reuters news agency, citing government and military sources who agreed to speak on condition of anonymity. India's defence ministry, meanwhile, has not yet commented on the information.
