The Ukrainian Defence Forces demonstrated the combat operation of the Strela-10 surface-to-air missile system against a Russian Orlan reconnaissance drone
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed a Russian drone of the Orlan type. The Strela-10 surface-to-air missile system was used for this purpose.
Here's What We Know
The Strela-10 air defence system is designed to destroy air threats at low altitudes. The surface-to-air missile system can shoot down targets at an altitude of up to 3,500 metres and at a range of up to 5,000 metres.
The video shows anti-aircraft guided missiles being launched at a Russian Orlan-type drone. The Russians often use Orlan-10 drones for reconnaissance, but sometimes they are armed with bombs. For example, a UAV carrying two containers for four 40mm bombs was shot down earlier this year.
Orlan-30 drones are much less common. They can conduct reconnaissance, surveillance and fire correction. The UAV can climb to an altitude of up to 5 kilometres and reach a speed of up to 170 kilometres. It has a range of 300 kilometres.
