The Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army has unveiled its first unmanned aerial vehicle. It is called KVD002.
Here's What We Know
The new drone can conduct reconnaissance and strike enemy positions. The targets of KVD002 are air defences, armoured vehicles and fortifications.
For strikes, the drone is armed with an AR-1 missile. It has a launch range of about 10 kilometres. The Chinese first showed the KVD002 at an exhibition in Tianjin last weekend. The drone was equipped with AR-1 missiles and reconnaissance instruments.
The developer of the KVD002 is the Chinese Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics. It has not yet revealed the technical specifications of the new drone, but it is known that it is based on the CH-4 (pictured above), which is copied from the US MQ-9 Reaper.
The CH-4 is China's most popular export UAV. It is supplied to more than 10 countries around the world. According to official information, the drone can fly for 30 hours and reach a speed of 230 kilometres per hour. The weight of the payload is 350kg.
