Iran unveiled the Shahed-238 UAV: a jet-propelled modification of the Shahed-136 with three different guidance systems
Iran's University of Aerospace Sciences has revealed a new strike drone.
Here's What We Know
The novelty has been named Shahed-238. The UAV is a jet modification of the Shahed-136. The drone was demonstrated by Iranian media. It received a slightly updated appearance and three versions: a version with an autonomous guidance system by inertial system and GPS signals, as well as variants with infrared/optical and radar guidance systems.
The infrared/optical version can be used to engage heat-contrast targets. For example, to destroy military vehicles behind enemy lines. The latter drone, thanks to its radar homing head, can become an analogue of anti-radar missiles. Such a tool can be used to neutralise and break through enemy air defence systems. Unfortunately, the technical characteristics of the UAV are still unknown.
