Qualcomm will release Oryon 12-core ARM chip with 5G support for Windows computers
Qualcomm is working on a new chip for personal computers based on the Windows operating system.
Here's What We Know
The model is codenamed Hamoa. Soon its commercial name will be Oryon. This chip was announced by the American manufacturer a few weeks ago. On it are working specialists Nuvia, which was absorbed by Qualcomm.
Oryon will try to impose competition to the Apple M processor. To do this, it will get 12 cores, including eight high-performance and only four power-efficient cores. The American company is testing two versions of the SoC - SC8380X and SC8380XP. Judging by the numbers, Hamoa chip will be the successor to the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3.
The processor will support LPDDR5x RAM, which is used in the next generation of flagship smartphones. The chip will also include a Snapdragon X65 modem board to support 5G cellular communications.
