German car maker Volkswagen is planning some serious changes to its range of vehicles.
Here's What We Know
According to Autonews, the German carmaker will no longer be making new models with internal combustion engines after 2025, citing an interview with Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer.
The company plans to switch entirely to electric cars from 2033, but until then it will focus on upgrading existing models.
Volkswagen's latest next-generation internal combustion engine vehicles will be the Tayron compact crossover for the Chinese market and the redesigned T-Roc for the global market (due out in 2025). Volkswagen is also set to launch its eighth-generation Golf in 2024, but there are no plans for a ninth-generation diesel-powered vehicle. An all-electric Golf on a new SSP platform is likely to be unveiled after 2028.
