Soldiers of the 101st Independent Security Brigade of the General Staff named after Colonel General Gennady Vorobyov shot down an enemy cruise missile.
How was it?
Four servicemen of the brigade defeated the cruise missile Kh-22, which was flying to Kiev. A portable anti-aircraft missile system "Igla" helped them in this. True, when exactly it was - it is unknown: for security purposes and disorientation of the enemy intentionally does not specify the date, place and personal data of the participants.
"This was the first time I fired live ammunition. Before that there was professional training and only theory. There were a few seconds between the shot and the explosion indicating the target had been hit. At the time they seemed like an eternity. Fortunately, I did not miss and the launch was successful. So the Kh-22 missile, which was flying towards the capital and bringing death and destruction, changed the coordinates of its route towards the Russian ship forever," said a military man with the call sign "Khmelnitsky".
Incidentally, the Kh-22 is a Soviet supersonic cruise missile, the stockpile of which Russia uses due to a shortage of more modern precision-guided weapons. According to experts, the Kh-22 is defective because it has a very problematic fuel system that can fail even during the flight and the missile will fall without reaching its destination. Its warhead weighs almost a ton - 960 kg of explosive. Exactly such a rocket was used in the attack on the Amstor shopping mall in Kremenchug.
