After yesterday's visit to Ukraine, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte held a press conference with President Volodymyr Zelensky. During his speech Rutte announced a new military aid package.

What we know

According to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Ukraine will receive heavy weapons. The package will include armored vehicles, as well as a new batch of self-propelled artillery units. Rutte did not say exactly which self-propelled artillery guns will be given to us, but it can be assumed that the question is about German PzH 2000 (aka Panzerhaubitze 2000). Earlier the Netherlands and Germany had given us 12 of these units.

Recall, the PzH 2000 is a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer gun, developed by the German concern Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. It was adopted by the Bundeswehr in the fall of 1998. It has 52 caliber (8 m) barrel, automatic loading system with 60 rounds of ammunition, 228 modular throwing charges and modern land navigation system. Panzerhaubitze 2000 has a range of 30-50 km (depending on the projectile).

By the way, the AFU uses PzH 2000 with smart shells SMArt 155.
