Brazil plans to purchase Javelin anti-tank missile systems for tens of millions of dollars.
What we know
The Brazilian government has allocated $74,000,000 to purchase 33 command and control launchers and up to 222 anti-tank missiles Javelin. This amount includes operator training, training missiles, and additional software and hardware.
The U.S. State Department said certification to sell Javelin has already been granted. The Javelin anti-tank missile systems will improve the Brazilian Army's ability to respond to future threats. The prime contractors will be Raytheon/Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture and Tucson.
