Russian helicopters, cruise missiles, and rockets contain 650 unique components from 144 companies in the United States, Europe, and Asia
Experts of Conflict Armament Research reported that modern Russian arms use components supplied by foreign companies. The experts familiarized themselves with the weapons used by the Russian army in Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
The experts got their hands on Kalibr cruise missiles, X-59, X-101, and 300mm caliber corrected ammunition for the Tornado-S multiple rocket launcher system. All of them contain foreign-made motherboards and chips. Imported electronics were also found in the onboard computing system "Baget-53" for the X-101 cruise missile and Ka-52 attack helicopters.
Conflict Armament Research specialists stressed that modern Russian weapons used in the war against Ukraine depend on Western components. They are supplied by companies from Europe, the United States and Asia, but the experts decided not to mention the names of manufacturers that may violate the sanctions imposed on Russia back in 2014 after the annexation of Crimea.
In total, Conflict Armament Research was able to identify 650 unique components produced by 144 companies. Some of the components appeared after 2014, and some of them appeared in 2021, which means that most of the sanctions against Russia were already in effect.
Recall that the Royal United Services Institute report, published a month ago, mentions 450 components from the United States, Japan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and South Korea.
