Reznikov: Ukrainian specialists complete training on German IRIS-T
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov wrote a detailed post on social media about the results of the September 8 meeting of the Contact Group on Ukrainian Defense (so-called "Ramstein-5"). According to him, at this meeting, the partner countries consolidated their course for long-term support of Ukraine.
Reznikov spoke about the weapons that Ukraine has already received or will receive in the future. He also spoke about the German anti-aircraft missile systems IRIS-T, which Germany promises to transfer. Thus, Ukrainian specialists are already completing training on modern IRIS-T.
"Progress has begun in the air defense/protection sphere. We have already received Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery systems from Germany. Our specialists are finishing their training on modern German IRIS-T air defense systems, which will soon make our skies safer. A decision in principle has been made about the NASAMS complexes. Not to mention armored vehicles and a lot of other assistance. This has happened in just 4.5 months," stressed the Secretary of Defense.
Flashback
IRIS-T is an air defense system, which is designed to destroy cruise missiles, rockets, aircraft, drones and helicopters and can hit targets at altitudes up to 20 km. Deliveries are expected this month, although the German government also mentioned a deadline of "before the end of the year." Unfortunately, due to limited production capacity so far we are talking about the delivery of only one surface-to-air missile system.
