General Staff: Russia used 86 Iranian kamikaze drones against Ukraine, AFU shot down 60%

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia used 86 Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed-136 against Ukraine.

Brigadier General Oleksiy Gromov, deputy head of the Main Operative Directorate of the General Staff of the AFU, said this during a briefing on October 6. According to Gromov, the Ukrainian defenders shot down 60% of the drones. The AFU used aviation, small arms, and air defense systems to do so.

"We will continue to improve the air defense, taking into account the technical characteristics of enemy aircraft," the general said.

The Shahed 136 is Iran's kamikaze drone. It was first unveiled in 2020. The claimed range is 2,000 km. The UAV is equipped with a triangular wing with stabilizers at the ends, a warhead, a propeller and an engine.
