Italy will send SAMP/T air defense systems to Ukraine after solving technical problems

Italy is preparing to provide Ukraine with one of the most advanced anti-aircraft missile systems. It is about SAMP/T. The air defense system will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the near future.

Here's What We Know

In 2022 Ukraine received several European anti-aircraft missile systems. Among the most modern are the German IRIS-T and the Norwegian NASAMS. Soon they will be joined by the French-Italian system SAMP/T.

Now the Italian side is working with French partners to eliminate some "technical problems" that will open the door to sending SAMP/T to Ukraine. This was announced by Antonio Tajani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy.

Which technical problems are under discussion is not known at the moment. At the same time, the Italian media, referring to anonymous sources, claim that some politicians are against the transfer of SAMP/T to Ukraine. Another obstacle may be the fact that Italy has only five systems, two of which have already been deployed in other countries - in Kuwait and Slovakia.
