Air defence, ammunition, support equipment and more: US announces new $1.2bn military aid package for Ukraine

The US government continues to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine's armed forces.

Here's What We Know

On 9 May, the US announced a new $1.2bn military aid package.

It will include:

• additional air defence equipment and ammunition;
• equipment to integrate western air defence launchers, missiles and radars with Ukraine's air defence systems;
• ammunition for countering UAVs;
• 155-mm artillery shells;
• commercial satellite imagery services;
• training and maintenance support.

This package is provided as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which involves the purchase of ammunition and equipment from manufacturers or partners rather than from Pentagon stocks.
