The Luleå class warships will be deployed with the Swedish Navy. They will replace the Visby corvettes.
Here's What We Know
Sweden intends to build four Luleå-class ships. The first ones will be ready in 2030. The Swedish Ministry of Defence says they will be superior to any ships currently in service with the country's navy.
The Luleå-class ships will be named after towns along the Swedish coast from north to west. They are of great importance to the Swedish navy.
The first ship will be called HSwMS Luleå and the others will be HSwMS Norrköping, HSwMS Trelleborg and HSwMS Halmstad. Their names were approved by the King of Sweden - Carl XVI Gustaf.
