Ukraine has already received US cluster munitions for 155mm artillery, but has never used them yet

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have already received cluster munitions from the USA. This was announced by the commander of the Tavriya operational-strategic group of troops, Oleksandr Tarnavskyy.

Brigadier General said that the Defence Forces have just received American cluster munitions, but have never used them yet. At the same time, Oleksandr Tarnavskyy adds that the shells are powerful weapons capable of changing the battlefield.

Ukraine will not use cluster munitions in densely populated areas even if it is confirmed that Russian troops are there. At the same time, the brigadier general believes that the Russians will leave areas of the frontline where the Ukrainian Defence Forces can use the new shells.

Officially, the USA did not specify the type of cluster munitions handed over to Ukraine. The press release specifies only the 155 mm calibre. Apparently, they are M864 shells. They contain 72 sub-shells and can hit targets at a distance of up to 28 kilometres.
