Boeing got a $5 billion key contract to maintain missile defense system

Boeing has signed key contract with the United States Missile Defense Agency.

Here's What We Know

The agreement provides for the system integration, testing and readiness of U.S. ground-based missile defense. The cost of the contract is $5 billion. The new initiative is aimed at ensuring that the system is ready to defend the territory of the United States against threats from long- and medium-range ballistic missiles.

On September 1, Boeing began fulfilling the contract. The American giant will fulfill its obligations until August 31, 2027. The U.S. company will conduct key work at the Huntsville site.

Strategic missile defense of the United States is a ground missile defense system. It is focused on interception of intercontinental ballistic missiles in outer space. The system allows it to detect enemy missiles and target them with anti-missiles to destroy warheads outside the atmosphere.
