General Atomics has reported on the successful testing of a new unmanned aerial vehicle, the Avenger MQ-20A.

Here's What We Know

The company said in a press release. The drone stayed in a fully autonomous flight for 30 minutes. All this time, the UAV was not controlled by a human, but by artificial intelligence. It is based on the company's Reinforcement Learning (RL) architecture. During testing, it was possible to test how the AI would react to different scenarios. For example, during the pursuit of a target.

Flashback

The Avenger MQ-20A is an experimental combat unmanned aerial vehicle created by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems for the U.S. military. Unlike previous MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper (Predator B) UAVs, the Avenger has a turbofan engine and its design includes stealth features.
