General Dynamics develops next-generation AbramsX tank with hybrid propulsion system, AI support and unmanned mode
The American company General Dynamics has revealed more information about the new generation AbramsX tank, which is being developed for the U.S. Army.
Here's What We Know
AbramsX will get a hybrid propulsion system. According to General Dynamics representatives, it will consume half as much fuel as the current generation tank with an identical range. The vehicle is part of the U.S. Army's effort to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Another feature of the AbramsX will be the ability to travel silently at low speeds. The AbramsX will also be able to reduce crew numbers, which will also reduce the maximum weight of the tank. It should be noted that now the most modern combat vehicle Abrams in M1A2 modification has a mass of more than 73,000 kg, which makes it difficult to transport by planes and ships.
AbramsX will receive support for artificial intelligence algorithms that will be able to combine the work of several tanks on the battlefield, creating a single network for them. In addition, based on the AI will be implemented unmanned mode of operation of the combat vehicle.
More information about AbramsX is expected next week. General Dynamics has officially confirmed its participation at AUSA 2022, which will be held from 10 to 12 October in Washington.
