Mercury Mission Systems received $35.7 million to develop upgraded avionics for Hornet, Super Hornet and Growler fighters

The U.S. Navy has signed a contract with Mercury Mission Systems to supply upgraded avionics for Boeing fighters.

Here's What We Know

As part of the agreement, Mercury Mission Systems will transfer 104 of 1,553 Data Transfer Units to the United States Navy. Deliveries of the upgraded avionics will last until 2024. The cost of the contract is $35.7 million.

F/A-18 Hornet -- F/A-18 Super Hornet

The 68 units are for the fourth-generation F/A-18C/D Hornet and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighters. They will also receive 144 high-definition video recorders. The remaining units will be installed on EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft.
