Lithuania buys Spanish EXPAL 120-MX2-SM towed mortars for 9,800,000 euros

Lithuania has signed a contract with EXPAL Systems to purchase Spanish EXPAL 120-MX2-SM mortars.

The information was shared by the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence. The contract is worth 9,800,000 euros. The contract is to be signed within two years. The first shipments of weapons will begin in 2023.
The purchase of these modern and extremely high quality weapons will significantly strengthen the fire support of the Lithuanian army from closed positions," said Arvydas Anušauskas, Minister of National Defense.

The EXPAL 120-MX2-SM is a towed mortar manufactured by EXPAL Systems. It is adapted to different terrains and is capable of engaging targets up to 8 km away. This mortar is in service in 35 NATO countries.
