The U.S. approved the sale of the Arrow-3 Israeli missile defense system to Germany for €3 billion
In September 2022, Germany expressed a desire to purchase the Arrow-3 missile defense system. Nearly two months later, the deal was approved by the United States.

Here's What We Know

The Arrow-3 is an anti-missile system of the Israeli company Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI). The American concern Boeing took part in the development, so the deal must be approved by the United States.

The Israeli system is designed to destroy ballistic missiles at altitudes above 100 kilometers. Arrow-3 is considered as one of the most advanced Israeli air defense systems.

The sale of the missile defense complex to Germany will be the biggest deal for the Israeli defense industry. The cost of the contract will be €3 billion, with Washington demanding that half of the production takes place on US territory.

Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz, the head of the German Air Force, said that the Arrow-3 is the most appropriate option for countering threats facing the country. The system will allow it to intercept ballistic missiles outside the atmosphere, and Germany already has weapon systems, including Patriot, for other purposes.
