26 U.S. military aircraft, helicopters and convertorcraft have never passed a combat readiness test in 10 years - among them the A-10 Thunderbolt II, F-22 Raptor, F-35B Lighting II and CH-47F

Last week we wrote that many U.S. military aircraft could not pass readiness tests. The same applies to convertorcraft and helicopters. At the time it was reported that fighters and bombers had failed the inspection. Now more details have emerged.

Here's What We Know

Between 2011 and 2021, 26 aircraft, convertorcraft and helicopters have never passed a combat readiness inspection. We're talking about aircraft that are in service with the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps.

As we wrote in our last article on this topic, the U.S. Government Accountability Office has audited 49 aircraft. Representatives of the agency claim that such a number is enough to create a representative sample to estimate the overall condition of the air fleet.
