Lockheed Martin received $2.2 billion to support its fleet of F-35 Lightning II multi-role fighters

The U.S. Department of Defense has signed another contract with Lockheed Martin to support the F-35 Lightning II fleet.

Here's What We Know

The December contract is worth $2.2 billion and runs through the end of next year. Under the agreement, Lockheed Martin will handle spare parts, ground maintenance, periodic maintenance and personnel training. Work under the contract will be performed in the U.S. (Fort Worth, Orlando, Greenville) and in the UK (Samlesbury).

Lockheed Martin has already delivered 875 fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighters. The aircraft have been able to fly a total of more than 600,000 hours. The list of recent foreign customers includes the Czech Republic, Germany and Switzerland.
