Czech Republic orders 10 more CAESAR howitzers, bringing the total number of artillery pieces to 62
The Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic has signed an additional order for the delivery of 10 more CAESAR self-propelled artillery units from the French company Nexter.
Here's What We Know
In September 2019, the Czech Republic agreed to purchase 52 CAESAR 155mm howitzers on wheeled chassis. The contract value was €288 ($305 million). The deal was approved on September 1, 2021. According to the contract, deliveries will take place between 2024 and 2026.
Only four self-propelled artillery units will be produced in France. The rest will be manufactured in the Czech Republic. Moreover, they will use Czech Tatra chassis. The new order will increase the total number of CAESAR howitzers to 62 units, and the contract value to €425 million ($450 million). They will replace the old 152mm DANA guns.
