Slovakia received the first German Leopard 2A4 tank to replace the BMP-1s that were transferred to Ukraine
Germany transferred a Leopard 2 tank to the Slovak Armed Forces under the circular exchange scheme, under which Bratislava sent infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
The circular exchange involves the provision of 30 Soviet BMP-1s to Ukraine, which had been decommissioned and were in the custody of the Slovak army. Instead, Germany will supply 15 Leopard 2A4 tanks.

The arrival of the first tank was reported by German journalist Julian Röpcke. The others will be delivered during 2023. Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad' stated that the total cost of the equipment to be transferred to Germany will be more than €100 million ($106.24 million).
The German side claims that the combat vehicles are being overhauled and upgraded before being shipped to Slovakia. The cost of the deal also includes personnel training and spare parts. This means that the cost per tank is less than €6.5 million ($6.91 million).
