Only 36 of 105 Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers of the German Armed Forces are in working order
After 18 Puma infantry fighting vehicles costing $17 million each broke down during Bundeswehr exercises, it became known about another unpleasant situation for the German Armed Forces. And it came from where it was not expected.
Here's What We Know
According to Bild, just over a third of all self-propelled artillery systems Panzerhaubitze 2000, which stand in the arsenal of the Bundeswehr, are in working condition. Armed forces of Germany have 105 howitzers, but they use only 73 of them.
At the same time, only 36 guns are in combat-ready condition, i.e. about 34 percent of the total number and less than 50 percent of those in service. Eighteen of the self-propelled artillery units have gone for factory repairs. The remaining Panzerhaubitze 2000 are used by the German armed forces for training soldiers.
