The U.S. Air Force tested the performance of two types of missiles launched from F-15EX Eagle II fighters. The test took place at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
Here's What We Know
The new aircraft tested AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) and AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles. During the test, F-15EX Eagle pilots conducted several test launches over the Gulf of Mexico, successfully hitting unmanned targets.
The improved Eagle II fighters, which first took to the air in 2021, will be able to carry 12 missiles. That's a big step up from the conventional F-15 Eagle aircraft, which are equipped with eight missiles.
