F-35I Adir fighters take part in first-ever Red Flag exercise in Nevada

The Red Flag exercise was held in Nevada this month. The exercise saw the first-ever participation of F-35I Adir fifth-generation fighter jets.

Red Flag focuses on enhancing capabilities as well as strengthening US European and Central Command. Seven Israeli Air Force F-35I Adir fifth-generation fighters arrived in Nevada to participate in the exercise, making up almost half of the entire fleet. By 2024, the Israeli Air Force will already have 50 fifth-generation planes in service.

Jared Hutchinson emphasized that the participation of Israeli crews was a great step forward for both the United States and our allies. Red Flag allowed Soldiers to combine their capabilities and train in a combat environment.

The Red Flag venues were Nellis Air Force Base and the Nevada Test and Training Range. The exercise took place from 12 to 24 March 2023 amid tensions between Israel and Iran. American and Israeli F-35 fifth-generation fighters trained to suppress enemy air defences, attack air targets and defend against air threats themselves.

To conclude, Red Flag is an annual exercise that consists of three phases. The January phase focused on China. The event, which lasted three weeks, involved the British and Australian Royal Air Force. The third phase, focusing on the Indo-Pacific region, is scheduled for August. It will involve only the US.
