US giant Boeing has received more than $1bn from the US Navy. Information about the contract has been published on the Pentagon's website.

Here's What We Know

The deal amounted to more than $1.17 billion. Boeing will produce 400 RTM-84L-4 Block II HIIU missiles, four training missiles, 411 containers, as well as spare components for Harpoon Coastal Defense System (HCDS) missiles and systems under the contract. 74.23% of the work will take place on US soil, including 24.43% in Texas.

Separately, more than half of the allocated amount ($629.7 million) is intended to ensure delivery of the Harpoon Coastal Defense System to foreign customers. The Defense Department documents published on its website do not specify the country in question.

It is possible that Taiwan is the buyer. The island nation has earmarked $2.37 billion for the purchase of 100 launchers, radar stations and 400 Harpoon anti-ship missiles by 2028.
