Romania decides to buy F-35 Lightning II fifth-generation fighter jets
Another European country is set to buy fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighters from US-based Lockheed Martin.

We are talking about Romania. The country's Supreme National Security Council made such a decision on April 11. The contract wants to be signed this year. Unfortunately, the amount and number of planes Romania has not disclosed yet.
If everything goes according to plan, then deliveries of fighters may start after 2030. By the way, Romania now has 17 F-16 fighters in service. Also in the near future the Air Force of the country will receive 32 more F-16s. They were bought from Norway for 388,000,000 euros.

The F-35 Lightning II is the most modern serial fighter with a service life of 30 to 40 years. It is produced by the American company Lockheed Martin. The fighter has stealth technology and is equipped with two air-to-air missiles, guided bombs and a 25mm cannon. The F-35 Lightning II can fly up to 2,200km and reach speeds of up to 1,931km/h.
