The US will produce 80 nuclear warheads in 2023
The US National Nuclear Security Administration has revealed little information about how the nation's nuclear forces are doing.
Here's What We Know
According to the agency, which oversees the creation and storage of nuclear weapons, 80 plutonium charges will roll off the assembly line by fiscal 2023. Mass production of W80-4 nuclear warheads for cruise missiles has also begun.
Additionally, the National Nuclear Security Administration has stated that work to extend the life of the B61-12 is proceeding as planned. The US plans to deploy modernised air-launched nuclear bombs in Europe. Older versions of the B61 are now in some European countries.
Earlier we wrote that the US has started serial production of W87-1 nuclear warheads for Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missiles. In addition, the US is successfully conducting modernization of W88 warheads for Trident II missiles.
