Lockheed Martin has completed the assembly of another F-35 Lightning II for the Royal Danish Air Force. The Scandinavian country has ordered a total of 27 fighters.
Here's What We Know
In the middle of the last decade, the Danish government decided to buy fifth-generation fighter jets. Deliveries began in 2021. Denmark will receive all 27 aircraft within six years, i.e. until 2026.
Lockheed Martin has shipped six of the planes to its base in Arizona. The company recently assembled a seventh fighter jet. It has the tail number L-007 and has left for Texas, where it will take part in the training of Danish pilots.
The first fighters will arrive in Denmark by the end of this year. The F-35 Lightning II will be the replacement for the F-16 Fighting Falcon. There are a total of 30 fourth-generation aircraft in service with the Royal Air Force, but they will be retired by 2027.
