Poland receives new batch of South Korean K2 Black Panther tanks under $3.4bn contract
The Polish Armed Forces have received another batch of South Korean K2 Black Panther tanks. The contract to supply the combat vehicles was signed last year.
Here's What We Know
The Polish Ministry of Defense ordered $3.4 billion and $2.4 billion worth of K2 Black Panther tanks and K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers, respectively. Deliveries began last December and will last until 2026.
The first batch included 15 tanks. They were delivered to the 1st Tank Battalion of the 15th Mechanized Brigade, which is part of the 16th Mechanized Division.

The new batch consists of seven K2 Black Panther units. They will be assigned to the 1st Tank Battalion, 20th Mechanized Brigade, which is also part of the 16th Mechanized Division.
A total of 180 K2 Black Panther tanks have been ordered by Poland. Of these, 22 combat vehicles have already been delivered. It is expected that all 180 tanks under the contract worth $3.4 billion will join the 16th Mechanized Division.
