US sends highly mobile M142 HIMARS missile systems to Syria

Here's What We Know
The M142 HIMARS have reinforced the US deployment in Deir el-Zour province. It is east of the Euphrates River and controlled by the People's Self-Defence Units (YPG/PKK) forces. The launchers have also arrived at the al-Omar field and the Conoco gas plant.
The U.S. decided to move the M142 HIMARS to Syria to bolster its forces and to counter attacks by Iranian-backed groups. They are located on the back side of the Euphrates River.
The US military has been attacked several times by Iranian drones. For example, about two months ago, a drone struck a facility in eastern Syria. The US responded with F-15E Strike Eagle fighters.
