US ships first batch of M1A1 Abrams tanks to Poland under $1.4bn contract
In a few days, the first batch of American Abrams tanks will arrive in Poland. The announcement was made by Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak.

The US has sent 14 M1A1 Abrams tanks and three M88A2 Hercules armoured recovery vehicles to the European country. According to Mariusz Błaszczak, US military equipment will arrive in Poland by the end of June.

In early January 2023, Poland announced the purchase of 116 M1A1 Abrams tanks, 12 support vehicles and other equipment. The agreement amounted to $1.4 billion. Warsaw will pay about $1.2 billion, and about $200 million more will be covered by U.S. military aid.
The deal, apart from military equipment, includes technical support and training for Polish troops. Deliveries will last throughout 2023 and 2024.
