Boeing receives $200m to buy materials for production of latest F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighters
The Ministry of Defence has announced a new contract for Boeing. The agreement aims to support the production schedule for the fourth generation F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter aircraft.
Here's What We Know
The deal amounted to $200 million. The contract will provide for the procurement of critical materials with long lead times for the production of the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighters added by the US Congress.
The agreement runs until June 2025. Work will take place at Boeing plants in California, New York, Texas, Ohio and Canada. The fighters will be delivered to the US Navy.
Note that Boeing recently announced that it will cease production of the Super Hornet. The final contract worth $977 million was designed for 12 aircraft, but the Congress decided to add eight more fighters, allocating an additional $600 million. The last F/A-18E/F will be handed over to the customer in 2025.
