Switzerland will decommission 25 Leopard 2 tanks, sell them to Germany, but forbid their transfer to Ukraine

The Swiss authorities have agreed on the resale of Leopard 2 main battle tanks. The buyer is the German concern Rheinmetall.

Switzerland has decommissioned 96 German Leopard 2 tanks. They are now in storage. The armed forces may decommission 25 combat vehicles to resell them to the German company Rheinmetall.
The Swiss National Council passed the decision by 132 votes to 59. The proposal was not supported by the Swiss People's Party faction. Also some deputies of the Free Democratic Party voted against it.
Switzerland will be able to do without 25 tanks. This was announced by Defence Minister Viola Amherd. The defence minister also added that the Leopard 2 will not be transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
