The first photo of a Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicle with a 40mm cannon in Ukraine is published
Last week, Sweden showed pictures of the Ukrainian military training on the CV90s. And now, the infantry fighting vehicles have already arrived in Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
The first photo of the CV90s in Ukraine has been posted on social media. The training program began in March and ended last month. In that time Sweden has managed to train several groups of crews, which will now fight in one of the front lines.
In the photo above, we see that the CV90 is equipped with a 40mm automatic cannon. A total of approximately 50 infantry fighting vehicles will be delivered to the Ukrainian Defence Forces. All of them are being handed over by Sweden.
The CV90 was developed by BAE Systems Hägglunds and entered service in 1993. Since then, nearly 1,500 combat vehicles have been produced in 17 variants. Operators include several countries, five of which are NATO members.
At the end of last month, the Czech Republic announced the purchase of the CV90. Negotiations lasted for nearly two years. The Czech Republic will order 246 MkIV-level infantry fighting vehicles in various modifications at a cost of $2.2 billion.
