Japan wants to scrap 100 F-15 Eagle fighters, replace them with F-35 Lightning II and sell to Indonesia up to 200 F100 engines

A month ago it was revealed that Japan would scrap old F-15J Eagle fighters and sell the engines. Looks like a buyer has been found.

Here's What We Know

Japan is considering supplying F100 powerplants to Indonesia. This will be possible after the government revises export rules for defence equipment. This is reported by Reuters news agency citing Jiji.

The Japanese Air Force has two hundred F-15J Eagle fighters. Half have not undergone Multi-Stage Improvement Program (MSIP) upgrades. They will be retired and replaced by fifth-generation F-35A Lightning II fighters.

Each aircraft is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney F100 powerplants. This means Japan could potentially sell 200 engines to Indonesia. The amount of the possible deal between the two countries has not yet been specified.
