Raytheon receives $1.15bn to produce AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles for the US, Ukraine, UK, Netherlands and 15 other countries

Raytheon Missiles and Defence has been awarded a contract to manufacture and supply AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles. The recipients are the US and 18 other states.

Here's What We Know

The deal was officially announced on the US Department of Defense website. The contract amount was $1.15 billion. Work will take place at the Raytheon Missiles and Defense plant in Arizona until 31 January 2027.

Under the Foreign Military Sales program, AIM-120 missiles will be delivered to Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Canada, Great Britain, Qatar, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Norway, Singapore, Spain, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea and Switzerland.

The above countries account for 39% of the contract value. The US company will also supply AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles to the US Air Force and Navy. We note that the contract was issued for the 37th batch (Lot 37).

The number and type of missiles is not specified. The most modern version of the AMRAAM is the AIM-120D. It is equipped with an active radar homing head and can hit targets up to 180 km away.
