The UK and Poland will develop the CAMM-MR anti-aircraft missile with a launch range of over 100 kilometres and a speed of over 1,000 metres per second
Poland and the UK are joining forces to develop an anti-aircraft missile based on the Common Anti-Air Modular Missile (CAMM). The new development is called CAMM-MR.
Here's What We Know
The UK's CAMM family of anti-aircraft missiles includes only two models so far. The Common CAMM has a launch range of over 25 kilometres, while the ER version has a range of over 45 kilometres. Both can intercept targets at altitudes of up to 10km and are capable of a speed of 1,029m/s (M=3).
The CAMM-MR is expected to receive a solid fuel engine and will have a maximum launch range of more than 100 km/h. However, other technical parameters will not change, including intercept altitude and flight speed.
In March 2022, Poland announced the deployment of CAMM-ER in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The development of CAMM-MR will allow Warsaw to dispense with the Soviet S-200 and S-125 surface-to-air missile systems.
