The Republic of Korea has developed a Hyunmoo-V ballistic missile with a maximum launch range of more than 3,000 kilometres

Hanwha Aerospace is ready to start mass production of the Hyunmoo-V ballistic missile. The South Korean company has successfully completed work on the project.

Here's What We Know

The armed forces of the Republic of Korea want to order 200 units of Hyunmoo-V. There is also information that the new ballistic missile will be armed with a promising strike ship of the company Hanwha Ocean, the development of which takes place within the framework of the Joint Strike Ship programme.

Hyunmoo-V is designed to destroy bunkers, nuclear missile bases and other objects located at a depth of up to 100 metres underground. The medium-range ballistic missile with a lightweight warhead is capable of hitting targets at a range of more than 3,000 kilometres.

One of the features of the Hyunmoo-V is its cold-start technology. The ballistic missile flies out of the launcher and only then the engine is activated.

Hanwha Aerospace wants to start mass production by the end of the year. The South Korean company plans to produce up to 70 Hyunmoo-V ballistic missiles annually.
