The US has sent the nuclear-powered attack submarine USS Annapolis with Tomahawk missiles to the Republic of Korea, following the USS Kentucky

Another US Navy nuclear submarine has docked in the Republic of Korea. Following the USS Kentucky, the USS Annapolis arrived in the country.

The submarine docked at a naval base on Jeju Island. She received military cargoes needed to fulfil an unknown mission. This was reported by the Republic of Korea Navy.

Last week, the Ohio-class USS Kentucky became the first submarine with Trident II (D5) intercontinental ballistic missiles to visit South Korea since 1981. At the same time, the US Navy did not specify whether there were nuclear weapons on board. Each of the 20 missiles can carry 3-8 nuclear warheads.

The USS Annapolis, with board number SSN-760, is a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered submarine. She is one of four US Navy vessels named after the State capital of Maryland. The submarine is based at a base in San Diego, California.

USS Annapolis is equipped with a 165 MW S6G PWR nuclear reactor. It has a maximum speed of 46 km/h. The nuclear-powered submarine is a carrier of Mark 48 ADCAP torpedoes, CAPTOR mines and Tomahawk vertical-launch cruise missiles.
