China's People's Liberation Army has once again sent aircraft to Taiwan. This comes after the island nation began the 5-day Han Kuang military exercise.

Here's What We Know

The Taiwanese military said four ships along with 25 aircraft and drones of different classes approached the island. The sorties were recorded on the first day of the Han Kuang exercise, when Taiwan's armed forces were practising their ability to maintain naval and air combat power in a war against China.

According to Taiwan's defence ministry, 10 of the 25 aircraft/drones entered the country's air defence identification zone in the southwest and southeast. Among them were a TB-001 strike drone and a CH-4 reconnaissance drone.

They were joined by eight aircraft. Taiwan's Ministry of Defence recorded four J-16 and two J-11 fighter jets, one KJ-500 long-range radar detection aircraft and one Y-8 reconnaissance drone entering the air defence identification zone.

As for the warships, the defence ministry did not disclose details about their types. It is only noted that four ships were travelling around the island.
